We’ll start by saying this is not a game for small children. It’s a memory game that combines the elements of music and motion in a fast paced play. If you’ve never seen it, it won’t be long before you reaslize this is not something you’ve seen in any game prior to this. It’s not a board, but a tower that stands up. There are four rings, and they light up in a bunch of different sequences. These rings, or loops as they are called, are not loops in the traditional sense because they are open on the outside. They are more like a semi-circle. The game player’s job is to pass his hand through the loop as it lights. There are motion sensors built in to detect your movement. No need for you to touch anything.
Loopz can be played by up to four people but it’s almost as much fun to play it alone. And that means you can practice alone as well, so when it comes time to play with your friends you’ll be able to show them up.
A cool feature of Loops is that you can actually play it in seven different ways. When it’s time to play you turn on the game and pass your hand through one of the upper loops. Each pass will select a different game. When you come to the one you want, pass your hand through one of the lower loops and you’ll be ready to go.
And while we’re talking about cool features, how does music creation sound. Remember Loopz creates sounds as you pass your hands through. An included game is called Musicology. In this game you literally build a complete song one instrument at a time. Each loop will make the sound of a single instrument. Complete a pattern and a part of a song is formed. When you add sequences you are adding additional parts to the song. Continue doing this until the entire song is funished.
There’s another music game as well. Here a song will start to play. As it plays different loops will light. Your job is to pass your hand through the loop quickly, getting through before the loop goes out. Do it on time and the music will keep playing. But if you’re not fast enough, the light goes out and the music comes to a halt before starting back at the beginning. If you’re good enough to play the song for 30 seconds, the game will take you to the next level making it harder, more challenging and more fun.
If you’ve ever dreamed of being a DJ, with Loopz you can. Just pick one of the songs and as it plays, pass your hands through the loops, changing tracks and creating unique sounds. There’s not right way to do this and no wrong way either. You are making up the song on the fly.
At the risk of sounding like a television infomercial…But wait, there’s more! You can also play your own instrument. Scroll through the choices, pick an instrument, and play notes by moving your hands through the various loops for different sounds. It’s like writing nusic at the piano or on the guitar by picking out the notes.
Finally, if you want to test your reflexes, this game will do so in a manner like you’ve never seen. Some of the included games test your memory, others focus on repetition, and still others will make speed part of the mix for maximum challenge.
If you’ve never written music, now you can, even if you’ve never played an instrument. The challenges will keep your moving and thinking. In other words, Loopz will test just how fast, coordinated, and yes, how smart you truly are.Mail this post
