Like we said, Lego makes fantastic toys. They consistently top the best sellers lists every year. There’s no doubt that children love electronic toys and video games, but they don’t seem to stimulate the imagination and creativity as Lego sets do. It’s not unusual to see a boy or girl spend hours first building the initial set as it is on the box, in this case the Lego City Airport, then spend years reworking the pieces to make their own inventions. We’ve seen kids watch TV then turn around and build something they just saw with the pieces in the set.

Relatively speaking, Legos are not cheap. In fact you’ll find cheaper similar toys everywhere. But the beauty of Legos, and one of the keys to its success, is its ability to be expanded yearly with parts that will always fit, and its ability to be passed down through generations. The first Legos came out in 1932. Do you still have yours? If you do, your child has a huge amount of options to build, and everyone of the pieces will still snap nicely together.

If you are looking for a larger Lego set, Lego City Airport is definitely a great option. There’s a flight terminal with revolving doors, a jet plane, control tower, baggage cart and figures for a crew, passenger and service man. Naturally, expansion is easy with this set as it is with most Legos. You can buy extras like a passenger plane and a runway. If you wanted to go all out you could even build an entire city.

You already know that Lego is very detail oriented, but this set seemingly takes it to a new level. If you can find it in a real airport, you can probably find it here. Witness the soda machine, coffee mugs, security scanning area, the check in desk with a computer and a whole lot more. If there’s one problem it would be the lack of figures. Maybe the cost of air travel is keeping them away. However we recommend buying some extra figures because given the size of this set, the five that are included simply aren’t enough.

Essentially, this set will help your child bring the Hogwarts castle to life in your own home. You’ll get 11 characters total including naturally Harry and Hermoine, but you’ll also get characters that are exclusive to this set only. No where else can you get Professors Snape, Flitwick and McGonagall. You also can’t find Argus Filch and his cat, Mrs. Norris, Lord Voldemort, Ablus Dumbledore and 2 dementors anywhere else either.

And they all fit perfectly as any LEGO product does, making this castle very easy to play with. Build it according to the design and you get a castle that is about 23 inches by 15 inches. And your child is not left on his own here. The castle comes with 3 instruction books designed to guide him through the intricate process.

If your child is a Harry Potter fan, he will love all the adventures that are possible with the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle. He’ll likely start out by recreating some of the movie’s more famous scenes, but will quickly move on to using his imagination to create his own adventures. Just like the movie, there is always something intriguing or some mischief happening within the walls.

If you really want to go all out and have the money to spend you can get a more sophisticated version of this set. But it’s not cheap. It will run near the $500 dollar mark. But you’ll get some incredible features not found in the basic set. Although calling the set basic is somewhat understating everything that’s included. But in the second set you’ll get things like a mechanical clock tower with a pendulum that moves with the moving of the gate. It also comes with things like trap doors and staircases that move.

If your child likes Harry Potter, he will love the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Castle. He’ll escape within it’s walls for hours of fantasy and fun.
